  • New Wines from Henricsson Vineyard

We've been collaborating with Henricsson Vineyard for eight years now, with all their wines made from start to finish here at Marichel. Peter and Kajsa Henricsson have their own vineyard on the Naramata Bench, just a stone's throw from Marichel. The Henricssons grow premium Pinot Noir and Chardonnay on old vines using organic methods. Their wine-making techniques focus on low intervention wild fermentations, followed by lengthy aging in premium French oak barrels and puncheons. The wines are bottled unfined and unfiltered. Read more about the Henricssons' fantastic wines in Our Shop.

  • New Releases

Our 2022 Estate Viognier and 2022 Syrah Rose will be released in late April.

  • New Chiller

We installed a new chiller at Marichel to control fermentation temperatures for the 2022 harvest. The chiller was supplied by our good friends at Cellar-Tek Mechanical and ran perfectly, ensuring that steady cool temperatures prevailed in the fermentation tanks.

  • Harvest 2022

The 2022 growing season couldn't have started more differently than in 2021. Whereas the previous year began with a heat dome and temperatures soaring into the high 40's, this year the vintage began with cool wet weather lasting until July. With the humid conditions, great vigilance was necessary to avoid fungal infections that could lead to mildew and rot in the grapes. Thankfully more normal weather arrived in July and continued through August, but by September we were still expecting a delayed harvest due to the vintage's poor start. Then September kicked in and Mother Nature rewarded us with peerless fall weather well into October. The grapes ripened faster than we could've hoped for, and harvest happened in warm, shirt-sleeve conditions. We could get used to that!
